Key Considerations
Six factors to work through before you request a quote
Load Capacity
Match pallet strength to your product weight
- Calculate total load including packaging
- Consider stacking requirements
- Ask how the pallet is rated for static, dynamic and racked loads
Size Requirements
Choose dimensions that fit your products and logistics
- Measure your products first
- Consider truck and container dimensions
- Think about warehouse racking systems
Material Type
Select wood type based on durability needs
- Hardwood for heavier loads
- Softwood for lighter applications
- ISPM 15 heat-treated pallets for export shipments
Grade Selection
Match pallet condition to how the pallet will be used
- Grade A: sound, with few or no repairs
- Grade B: repaired, may have replaced boards or a stringer plate
- Grade C: heavier wear, for one-way or light use
Construction and Entry
Make sure the pallet works with your handling equipment
- Stringer pallets are simple to build and repair
- Block pallets allow true four-way entry
- Check which sides a pallet jack and forklift can enter
New or Recycled
Decide how much uniformity your operation really needs
- New pallets offer consistent dimensions and appearance
- Recycled pallets reuse existing stock instead of building new
- Automated lines may need tighter tolerances than manual handling
How Pallet Quotes Work
Pricing is by quote from partner suppliers and depends on size, grade, material, quantity and location. The clearer your request, the more useful the quote will be.
Request a Quote →New vs Recycled
Condition and supply both shape a quote, so say whether recycled pallets would work or whether you need new.
Order Size
Share the quantity you need and how often you reorder, so a partner supplier can quote the full job.
Delivery
Distance, quantity and site access all matter. Tell us where in Alberta the pallets are going.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Ignoring Load Requirements
Always verify weight capacity before purchasing. Overloaded pallets can cause injuries and product damage.
Wrong Size Selection
Measure your products and storage space first. Standard sizes don't work for every application.
Skipping Export Requirements
Many countries require solid wood packaging to meet ISPM 15, which means treated and stamped. Non-compliant packaging can be refused at the border, so check the current rules for your destination.
Overlooking Entry Type
A two-way pallet can only be lifted from two sides. Check how your forklifts and pallet jacks approach the load before you order.
Assuming Grades Mean the Same Thing Everywhere
Grade names are a trade convention, not a universal standard. Describe what you need, such as the allowed repairs and condition, so there are no surprises.
